Founded by Studio Danmole, The Loft Bham was pop-up shop with a difference. It aimed to rethink uses of space within a city. Rather than supply goods, The Loft opened up to support emerging creatives in expanding their work and presence.
During the 6-month pilot, the Loft occupied an empty retail unit in central Birmingham. The space was split into two areas: a flexible exhibition and event space, and an affordable studio space.
I worked as part of the team on the overall direction, planning and running the events programme, organising studio-specific activities, and communication work, like designing publications, securing press features and expanding the profile of the project locally.
The Loft successfully joined the creative scene of the city, forging connections with local projects and grassroots initiatives. Its digital presence reached as far as Athens, Greece and inspired a copycat project.
