Life updates ๐ŸŒท

  • Creativity โ€“ Drawing continues. Temperature blanket is on track to be finished in January. Currently on a knitting and sewing for gifts bent. And I’m also thinking about the garden and house. I’m reflecting a lot on what my creative practice was, is and wants to be at the moment.
  • Mind and body โ€“ trying to focus on small, steady changes rather than my usual compulsion to do everything all at once. Sleep now. Movement next.
  • House and garden โ€“ ’tis the season of planning, as it’s mostly too cold or wet to want to be outside in Britain. I’m mainly in design mode for the garden, and considering storage and decluttering in the house. I suspect the latter will be an ongoing project for next year.
  • Paid work โ€“ did a bit more freelance work for Greenpeace in October. Had a couple of interviews since my last update and very pleased that job hunting is over for now! I’m starting a new role as a Content Designer in January.

Inspiration well โœจ

  • Thinking a lot about seasons, rhythms and maintenance at the moment. Rachel Stephen’s constellation system intrigues me. Testing it in combo with Frankenlog at the moment.
  • Podcasts: loved two series by India Rakusen, 28ish days later and Witch.
  • Books: enjoyed The seven moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka and All dogs have ADHD by Kathy Hoopmann. Currently reading: Seed detectives by Adam Alexander and The story of art without men by Katy Hessel.
  • Seaside โ€“ feels like ages ago now, but we went to Devon/Cornwall for a week in late September. The creatures in the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth mesmerised me. And the big crashing waves by the beach were awesome and delighful!
