Thoughtful design meets delightful writing

In a nutshell

Hello, I'm Leah. When I'm not modelling wooden pegs with such finesse, you can usually find me channeling contemplation into some nice designs or witty writing, in a kind of object-image-word synthesis.

I graduated from UWE Bristol in 2013 with First Class Honours in Fashion Design, before going on to gain a Distinction on the MA Fashion Futures course at University of the Arts London in 2017. My interests lie in the questions that circulate around personal identity, social relations and design domains. I've explored topics such as: social media and body image; ethics and sustainability; creative process and industry pace; and critical uses of design to foster discussions. My recent MA thesis explored the latter, investigating the wider roles design can play to engage people in key concerns going into the 21st Century. You can read an extract of that here.

Alongside, I've worked with a variety of companies and projects, mostly on the digital communication side of things. I've planned creative strategies, written blog posts and tweets, designed graphics and publications, and learnt a heck of a lot about storytelling along the way. For a better flavour of what I do, please find examples of both personal and commissioned work in Projects and Writing.

Beyond work antics, the Notes section here acts as a hub for other adventures in the world. You'll likely find a mix of travel tales, process snippets, musings and things that make me curious.
