Initiated by Studio Danmole, The Loft Bham was pop-up shop with a difference. It aimed to rethink uses of space within a city and rather than supply goods, The Loft opened up to support emerging creatives in expanding their work and presence.
During the 6-month pilot, the Loft occupied an empty retail unit in Central Birmingham. The space was split into two areas: a flexible exhibition & event space and an affordable studio space. I worked within the team on the overall direction, planning & running our events programme, initiating studio-specific activities, and communication/design work like creating publications, securing press features and expanding the profile of the project.
The Loft successfully wove into the creative scene of the city, forging connections with a number of local projects and grassroots initiatives. Its digital presence reached as far as Athens, Greece to inspire a copycat project.
